4th February - NZF1 Power Boat Tour Round 2

Julian Stilwell has made a great recovery from a poor first round to dominate the racing at this round of the NZF1 Powerboat Tour. Philip Stilwell in Acceleration on Water came home 5th overall. Luke Sharp dropped a lot of points this weekend with a very bad run in his boat, a 4th and 7th were the best results for Promt Parts. Richard Sommerville in KS Builders had a lot of problems on Saturday and finished just the Sunday heat in 6th place. 27th January 2013 - Wanganui Regatta

Kent Dunlop in Razors edge just beat home Gary Gregory in Broad Minded for the Fred Robinson Cup. Jason Buttimore was 3rd home in Lucky Break.

The King of the River was won by Kent Dunlop with Jason Buttimore in 2nd over Alan Steiner in Misty Blue.

Club had some great pick a table prizes from Ward Furniture Store a good change from the motor related prizes that clubs usually have.

The River City 3000 and the Goldmist Hydro Trophy race were not run due to boat breakdowns.

Clubmans had a ball with two handicap races and two scratch races. Results were shared around all boats. The water cut up rough in the two scratch races which really suited the Outboard Marine and Pincoya Hulls. Outboard Marine and Pincoya joined in the King of the River race as well.

North Island Pro Stock
1st Dean Probyn "Lucky Break"
2nd Craig Henwood "Evil Racing"
3rd Adam Parker "Heat Seeker"
Congratulation to Dean Probyn on winning the Pro Stock Title he raced well to get a second and first placing in the title with Craig Henwood also finishing boat races to come in 2nd. Adam Parker had a faulty Starter Motor and after winning race 1 he was unable to make repairs in time to start the second Heat.

18 Boats had some good relaxed Racing today. It was marred somewhat when an incident in the final race saw Wild Thing and Dundeel come together with both boats getting holed. the Drivers were ok but the boats will take some time to repair.
Racing gets underway tomorrow where once again conditions on the river will be great in the City.

Dean gets dunked by Steve Mathieson after his Win

North Island Series 3000
1st Alan Steiner Misty Blue
2nd Hamish Buttimore Wild Thing
3rd Michael Robertson Going Going Gone
A bit of bad luck saw Michael Robertson breakdown and Mike Robinson not getting his boat to run with engine gremlins. Alan and Hamish were left to fight the second heat alone and smaller Wild Thing ran very well in the race but Alan had too much power and won the Title.

North Island Mod VP
1st Codi Francis Outboard Marine
2nd Karl Knight Spider
3rd Phillip Hoskyn Pincoya
The Clubmans contested the North Island Mod VP Title and 5 boats started but sadly Bayden Sprozen in Mad Dog Maddi was soon stopped with a Water Pump Problem. Codi had a Brand new engine on and headed off in the distance to win with Karl just behind. Rochelle Dennis in Anarchy was driving with a strong determination and made Pincoya work very hard to try and pass. we weren't sure who beat who to the line as we crossed side by side. In heat two Bayden didn't make it out and Codi again beat Karl with Pincoya having the inside line holding out Rochelle to finish 3rd.

20th January 2013 - Kaniere Regatta

The Kaniere Regatta today was short yet fun. The Members of the Kaniere Yacht and Power Boat Club put on a great weekend, very well organized. Only let down was the Weather which always seemed to threaten to rain anytime a boat made it onto the water. Despite this all there enjoyed the racing. Today started out Fine the sun was shining and the first race got underway at 10am on some great water. Racing stopped after 5 races as only two boats still had fuel left to run. Cant wait for next years regatta will try and convince some more boats what a great event they are missing out on.
Top Notch Joinery Trophy
1st Phillip Hoskyn "Pincoya"
2nd Colin Chapman "Hot n Sticky"
3rd Clark Powell "Madaz"
The two heat series was run on Handicap for the 3 slowest Boats. Clark unfortunately broke the accelerator cable and didn't start the second heat. Colin was just a little late on his starting times which cost him dearly and he finished both races just a short distance behind me.

The Handicap times were spot on with any boat not being right on time it meant they would not catch the boat in front. It was great that all the boats at the start of the day were keen to run a all in handicap race to finish the Regatta.

Kaniere Electric Cup
1st Paul Burtenshaw "Provocative"
2nd Richard Smith "Balistic"
3rd Mike Ryan "Low Blow"
Carl Ryan in whatever was still having problems with his engine and didn't score points. Paul once again was a standout and drove well. Richard had a moment in the second heat when a combination of Boat setup and rolling waves caused him to do a extra turn in the middle of the straight. Good to see Mike Ryan out in the Ryancraft Hydro.

Paul Burtenshaw in "Provocative" pipping Clark Powell in Madaz on the line in Pro Stock as the rain set in the racing was called off for the Day. Tomorrow they hope to run the Kaniere Electric Cup and some other racing and be finished by 12pm

South Island Pro Com
1st Paul Burtenshaw "Provocative"
2nd Richard Smith"Balistic"

3rd Ben Ryan "Dancing Bear"
Carl Ryan in Whatever came home in 4th after a DNF in heat 1 Fuel Starvation was to plague him all day very fast at the start of the races but would go off song late in the race. Ben Ryan had leaking Intake gaskets and being in 4 races didn't have time to fix them on the day was pretty quick though. Richard Smith drove well to finish second but it was Paul who took the title.

South Island Formula V
1st Colin Chapman "Hot n Sticky"
2nd Phillip Hoskyn "Pincoya"

3rd Brian Nicol "White Heat"
Two Clubmans boats made up the numbers for this Championship Along with Colin from the Kaniere club in Heat 1 Brian couldnt get on the plane and didn't make the start and Colin romped away from me as expected. In heat 2 Colin misjudged his charge to the line and came second but still had the points to Win.

Tony Mccaa had High Tension for some Testing it looked ok on the water but he never really opened it up to its full potential.

South Island Pro Stock
1st Paul Burtenshaw "Provocative"
2nd Clark Powell "Madaz"

3rd Robbie Stewart "Shogun"
Cameron Davies in the The Toy and Magneto Issues and missed race 1 and 2. Paul had water in his oil so purposely only ran these two heats with enough speed to win on the line. Clark was going well in a boat that hasn't been on the water for quite a few years. Robbie is new to the Sport but a blown head gasket saw his challenge end in heat 2.

South Island U/U
1st Paul Burtenshaw "Provocative"
2nd Carl Ryan "Whatever"

3rd Richard Smith "Balistic"
Mike Ryan struggled with his Grand National Hydroplane visibility was making him stop racing Tony Mccaa was only interested in Testing so didn't take part. Once again Paul dominated the racing with Carl Ryan doing just enough to come second in his boat ahead of Richard Smith.

Brian Nicol in White Heat in Practice and Jeff Price in the back ground having a terrible start to the year melting another Piston.

Pictures from Kaniere which due to the Low cloud and Rain and Oil Smoke aren't the best will go up as soon as I get a fast internet connection somewhere along the road home.

18th January 2013 - Kaniere Regatta

Reminder that Internet out here at the Lake is very difficult so there wont be much in the way of updates.

Absolutely smashing day at the lake today hot and Sunny with just a hint of a breeze to make it comfortable. Athol and Peter Jones Jr have the course all set out already and the control tower in place.
Wish we were racing today. The fields may be small overall but its the V8 Skiffs that will provide most of the action making up half the boat numbers.

Very enjoyable days racing at the lakefront. The weather was very hot and warm and at the last race a wind storm blew in making it pretty rough but then it quickly disappeared.

DES GEDDES MEMORIAL
1st David Alexander Annihilator 1
2nd Warwick Lupton Annihilator Race Boats
3rd Scott Coker Fair Warning
This was a beach start race and Chris Palmer in Outlaw was away last and pulled out after just one lap with mechanical issues .A very tight battle between the 3 GP's made it a good race to watch.

Master of Mangakino
1st Scott Coker Fair Warning.
2nd Adam Parker Heat Seeker.
3rd Steve Mathieson Midnight.
The Annihilator Race boat driven by Ken Lupton had a spin in this race while dicing for the lead with Scott Coker and suffered some damage when spinning out. This left the way open for the reliable Coker to win Both heats. and the Title

Some great racing in all classes with plenty of handicap races. will add some photos on Monday Night

6th January 2013 - Lakeland Regatta 7am
44 Boats took to the water yesterday and most will try to be back today to race. Yesterday was very warm and hot but with a nice breeze to make things bearable. Today will be more of the same so a great days racing expected same. Will update after the racing about 6pm.

5th January 2013 - Lakeland Regatta 6pm

North Island Procom put up two brilliant races with Paul Robinson driving his new Injected Flattie in Heat one to a 4th place finish and for Heat two Mike Wotton took the seat and drove past both Inject the Venom and on the last lap Broad Minded to provide the race of the day for many in the crowd.

Some pretty decent racing in all classes today 13 clubmans boats were out in 3 races and it was a lot of fun. Fastest boats were AB Marine Rat Attack 003 and Dire Straits.

GP Boats had some close racing between Fair Warning and Annihilator Race Boats both tying on points in the NI GP with Scott Coker taking the win as the fastest Heat winner. Annihilator broke down and Cheetah broke a prop and damaged the back of his boat

Chris Palmer had some problems with his Engine in the first heat of the NIGP, beat the GP's to the first Buoy but after that they had the engine go off on them and they have spent the rest of the day getting it rebuilt to compete tomorrow.
