2014 Nationals Regatta Entry Form

29th September 2013 - Levin Hot Rod Show

Levin Hot Rod Show was held today the bi-yearly event attracts a lot of vehicles from around the lower North Island. Today it was held in pretty terrible weather which saw low crowd numbers on previous years.

Thanks to Kent, Derek, Allan, Karl and Tony whom had their Boats on display representing all our Classes in the Manawatu Club.

Jeff Robinson came up from Wellington in Barvarian the boat was right at home in the wet. Jeff was asked to do some engine start ups with the Drag Cars and the crowd seemed to appreciate the noise coming from the Boat.

PDF File of 2013/2014 Race Dates (17/9/13)

15th September 2013 - South Island Clubmans Series

Southern Series for Clubman
The series has come from a combination of ideas from the Rotoiti and Lake Dunstan Boat clubs. Its aim is to promote powerboat racing through close and enjoyable racing so as to encourage new racers, especially juniors, to join the ranks and eventually flow on through to other classes.

It is intended to hold a four round series over the 2013/14 season in the South Island.
Four South Island clubs have expressed interest in hosting a round during their Regatta with the final round at Easter. This series will differ slightly from the National and Island titles and will be run separately.

It is hoped participants will travel to all events. With the stated aim being to encourage new entrants to the sport we will be trying to level everything to ensure competitive racing. While some may not like this there are National and Island titles for the ultra quick and competitive boats. A Facebook page with be set up to promote the series and encourage participation. We are in the process of trying to secure a series Major Sponsor to cover the cost of prizes and promotion and a cup. Promotional material will be provided to hosting clubs.

Points will be awarded from 1st down to 10th using a system similar to Formula One car racing. Points will also be awarded for attendance.
1st 25 pts, 2nd 18 pts, down to 10th 1 pt.

Round One - Lake Rotoiti 9/10 November
Round Two - Lake Dunstan 30 November/1 December
Round Three - Lake Ruataniwha February 22/23
Round Four - Lake Kaniere at Easter April 19/20

Format.
It is proposed to run four races of the series per round and points will accumulate to a finale and prize giving at the last event. There will be bonus points awarded to competitors who attend every event. All prizes for the series will be presented at the final round and will be supplied by the series organiser's.

Starting will be varied with race 1 poles being drawn from a hat. Race 2 may be a reverse grid from the result of race 1. Race 3 may be an idle start with a reverse grid from race 2. Race 4 may be a handicap with times being by the series administrators. It is also possible to use a Le Mans beach type start and a standing start.

The start types will vary between venues and there won’t be two of the same type. We are hoping to have four different winners for the four races. Starts can be either pole boat or clock starts.

The administration committee will consist of two Rotoiti members, Andrew Morris, Wayne Wells and two Lake Dunstan Members, Peter Crowle and Chris Birch

Rules
The course is to be the same as series 3000/ F3 in distance and can be triangular or rectangular Low water pickups, nose cones and any propeller are allowed. Powerhead and exhaust are to be as produced from manufacturer. No swapping of parts between models or manufacturers is allowed. Run it as it was made. 25hp only. Any hull configuration is allowable. Engines must be manufactured by US or Japanese companies. Any Tohatsu /Mercury 25hp must run a restrict or in the carb intake no matter what year they were manufactured. This will be checked pre-race. This does not apply to USA manufactured Mercury 25hp engines.

Drivers to register for series before the first event with a $50 fee. There will be no weight limit as we think with the differing starts and handicap we can even up the field anyway.
If one boat or type of boat consistently clears out and wins the organiser's reserve the right to alter the rules and or the format. All boats must comply with NZPBA scrutineering and have a current RWOF.

27th May 2013 - Australian Kilos

Graeme Weller was in Taree, NSW on the weekend competing in the Warlord GP boat at a Kilo Event. The Warlord team didn't have much luck having to change and engine and in his last run he had an accident after the run breaking the boat the run was recorded at an average of 163mph so it was a pretty fast incident. Graeme was ok the boat well no doubt return to the water sometime in the future.

Troy Marland in the BAD boat Madness did a 153mph run.
Mayhem a 25hp boat did a 55.277mph run

Tony Hearne has a heap of Video clips on his Youtube Page
