Cambridge/Waikato Club Wish to Advise they will not be having a Clubday on December 10th due to another event using the Venue.

20/11/2011 - Clubmans Test and Tune
Sunday 20th

Today's Racing got underway on time in pretty good conditions. Some Handicap racing to begin with and then it was on to the Scratch racing. Results were not an important part of the Event as it was about getting time on the water and learning how everyone's Boats handled.

Despite a few breakdowns All the Boats and Drivers are looking forward to the Mangakino Regatta. Everyone pitched in help get the boats going and plenty of helpful Advice to Boot.

The Weekend was very successful and it was good to be at the Wairarapa Clubrooms Venue, something that may be repeated Again at some stage.

Saturday 19th

Aaron Diggelmann from the Lakeland Club in "Little Mischief"

14 Boats took part in today's Testing and Training day. Two Hydro's "Mr Dollar" and "The Phantom" were here as well but the wind made things pretty rough during the Day. We did manage to squeeze in a few Handicap Races towards the Late Afternoon and all those whom took part had a great time and learnt Plenty of tips and tricks.

There are also a few more people whom are keen to take part and are on the Lookout for some Boats. Tomorrow hopefully sees the wind stay away for some more Teaching and experimenting.

Have a go at kayaking, jet skiing, canoeing, sailing, waka ama, power boating and more on Porirua Harbour next weekend when the Porirua Multi-Water Sport Family Day takes place - and it's all free!

Council's Sport, Leisure and Recreation Portfolio leaders Councilors Denys Latham and Litea Ah Hoi say the day is an opportunity for locals and others from the Wellington region to try their hand at new water sports. "The day will help promote the many different water sports we enjoy here in Porirua and hopefully get more people active and fit in an enjoyable way," says Cllr Latham. He says many water sports clubs use Porirua Harbour and surrounding coastline for their recreation and water sports events.

These include boating, canoeing, jet skiing, kayaking, surf life saving, power boating, rowing, sea scouts, sailing, stand-up paddling, surfing, waka ama, water skiing and yachting. Cllr Ah Hoi says most of the water sport clubs will be present on the day. "There are about 12 clubs or organizations participating and the Council is keen to encourage residents to be more active as individuals and as families by making use of the recreational facilities we have in the city.

Getting people to be more active in their lives provides the opportunity to focus more on 'quality family time' and help alleviate the social and health issues that currently has an impact in Porirua." Each club will be given 30 minutes to highlight their sports and provide the public with the opportunity to 'have a go'. The Porirua Multi-Water Sport Family Day will take place from 9am-2pm on Saturday 12 November on Porirua Harbour. The event will be based at the Onepoto Park side of the Porirua Harbour in Titahi Bay.

The Wellington Power Boat Club will be showcasing there upcoming Regatta and helping to Promote the New Zealand Power Boat Association with a display. Events like this are a good way to promote the Sport and Organization and Clubs should take the opportunity to put themselves in the Public eye as often as possible.
This weekend sees the Tauranga Boat Show and two weeks time sees the Big Boys Toys Show in Auckland.

24/10/2011 - Southland Opening Day

While it was quite a warm day here today the 130kmh winds put paid to any chance of conducting any racing. However about the change of the tide time there was a small window of not so crazy water conditions in which Ryan Birch went out as seen below.
Their is also an FV boat newly arrived here, some may remember it as the late Pat Kelly's "MORTICIAN". His grandson Dan Kelly is going to race it.

Ryan Birch of the Lake Dunstan club out in his Reflex Tennessee. Ryan handled this little craft with skill and confidence. Ryan, welcome to powerboat racing. We are sure that if your driving capacity, presentation and manner are anything to go by you will do well in the once 'up and coming' but 'here now' Clubmans class.

Next Clubday in Southland is the 13th of November Featuring the Crosbie Shield which is an open entry Competition, it has been contested for since 1953, it was presented by the late Arthur Crosbie, a noted Southland Motor Body Builder. It is a Marathon Series over 3 races of 6 Laps on the Long Course.

Thanks to Andrew Railton for the pictures and to Brian for the Information.
