22nd October - NZF3 115hp Test

Ryan Birch from Cromwell has been out testing his new F3 115hp Combination.

The former Luke Sharp Onehunga Panel & Paint boat ran at 76mph on a standard prop and shows promise. There are a couple of boats running the newer 115hp engines this season which may see a resurgence in numbers in the class.

3rd September 2012 - Australian Power Boats to Race in NZ

3 Top Australian Power Boat Race Teams will be making the trip to NZ over the Xmas/New Year Period to compete in 2 Regattas at the Manawatu and Lakeland Clubs.

Chris Palmer in "Outlaw" and Alf Ebborn in "Airborne" race in the "BAD" boats Class. "BAD" is short for Blown Alcohol Displacement. These Boats are an Unlimited/Unrestricted Engine and can produce anywhere up to 2200hp. These engines will burn through 100 litres of Methanol in a standard four lap race. The Boats are capable of racing up to 140mph.

Noel Adams in "DJ Pools & Spas" runs in the Formula One Tunnel Boats. Powered by a 2.5 Mercury outboard it reaches speeds of 125mph but can turn on a dime making these boats very exciting to watch.

All three Drivers are looking at taking on the best Boats in NZ in the 42nd Goldcup Race on the tight Manawatu River. The Goldcup has in recent years been dominated by New Zealand's top Tunnel Boat Drivers and the Aussie Bad Boats may just have what it takes to make it to the finish in first place on the tight River Course. The Australians will then make their way to Lake Maraetai at Mangakino where the wide open Lake makes for some great racing with big fields.
