Profile:
Following in big brother Julian’s footsteps, Philip took up the motorsport in 2004 at the young age of 14. This at the time made him the youngest competitor in New Zealand.
Straight out of the bag Philip showed potential by winning the Central Zone Championship Series in Formula 3 and Overall. This was backed up with 3rd in the NZ National Champs and a 2nd in the Santano Paints Trophy.
Again 2005 proved to be a successful year with 3rd in the NZ Nationals.
After obtaining 2nd in the North Island Championship, 2006 added a new wrinkle with a spectacular “blow over” putting Philip out for the remainder of the season. The boat was repaired and sold.
This funded the purchase of a damaged F1 hull from Australia, previously raced by Todd Leary.
The team is currently rebuilding the hull to have ready to race in the 2009 season. It is intended that Philip will first race this in Formula 2 before stepping up to F1 in 2010.
